The President of the constitutional court (CC) of Ukraine Stanislav Shevchuk expressed distrust. As reports “ZN.UA” for this decision voted by the majority of judges of the constitutional court.
On the morning of 14 may at the meeting of the chamber KS Shevchuk refused to consider the opinion of the Committee on rules and ethics regarding possible violations on his part. In particular, the document States that the President of the court committed significant misconduct and grossly neglected his duties, in connection with which he complies with his post.
The majority of judges supported the findings of the Commission. However, the censure, and the right of judges to dismiss their leader, are not provided by the law, said “Ukrainian truth”. The head of this court may prematurely leave the post, if you submit your application, and will support colleagues. Also the grounds for dismissal can be the condition, the significant committing disciplinary misconduct, gross or systematic neglect of their duties or the filing of an application on their own.
According to “the Ukrainian truth”, due to the fact that Shevchuk is not going to leave the post of Chairman, members of the COP are going to take on his dismissal of judges in General.
In April “Strenia” included the possible resignation of Shevchuk in the plan of disrupting the inauguration of President Vladimir Zelensky. By law, the winner of the presidential election to the oath leads the head COP. If it is not at the time of the ceremony, the inauguration of the head of state postponed until the election of a new President of the court.
The date of the inauguration Zelensky is not appointed yet. The Verkhovna Rada has registered seven resolutions that propose to appoint the ceremony in any of the days in the period from 17 may to 1 June.
