Shooting a documentary about the Islands of the Arctic directed by Leonid Kruglov will start during the second stage of the expedition “Transarctica-2019” at the scientific and expeditionary vessel from may 15 to June 10 and will last three years. TASS said Kruglov.
The purpose of the crew, consisting of Kruglov and operator Maxim Arbugaev, is to tell the history of the Russian Arctic Islands, to show the main stages of their development. For the reproduction of historical events will be used animation.
“It (the movie — approx. “Of the tape.ru”) will be called the “New Earth”, but not in the sense of a particular region, a separate archipelago, and the New Earth as the image, which came from the XVI–XVII centuries, when Pomerania had seen Islands in the North when they made their passages under sail, and all that they believed one of the big New Land, a large continent in the North, in the Arctic,” said the Director.
The expedition explores the area from the Barents sea to Franz Joseph, as well as local wildlife: seals, walruses, polar bears, whales, red white brew. Modern Arctic will be shown through the work of scientists and sailors on the Northern sea route, including during the polar night. “We want to make the operation of icebreakers on the Northern sea route, posting it is the winter, bleak, night. Perhaps winter will get another Wrangel island”, he said. The final film is scheduled to take off at the North pole.
The release of “a New earth” is scheduled for 2023.
