The Verkhovna Rada Committee on human rights, national minorities and interethnic relations has supported a petition to legalize in Ukraine medical marijuana. About it reports “Ukrainian truth”.
“The decision of the working group, which we accepted, was as follows: we submit the bill, which was adopted in the first reading, taken from that base, we will continue to consider what is the vision for the development of this direction”, — said the Chairman of the Committee Grigory Nemyria.
It is noted that the decision was made following consideration of electronic petitions “to regulate cannabis for science and medicine to protect the constitutional rights of citizens”, supported by more than 25 thousand citizens on the site of the Verkhovna Rada.
In support of the petition spoke the head of the Ministry of health of Ukraine Ulyana Suprun. She noted that cannabis helps relieve the suffering of patients and to normalize well-being in a number of serious diseases and conditions, and its use in medicine with certain reservations — “normal international practice”.
Medical marijuana is legalized in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Britain, Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland, Canada, USA, Thailand. At the end of January, it was allowed in Israel.
