Among Russians at the age from 50 to 60 years increased the proportion of new HIV infections. This was stated by the head of the Department of surveillance of HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis Rospotrebnadzor Razin Aizatulin, reports “Interfax”.
According to her, last year in Russia 70 percent of HIV cases were recorded in people from 30 to 50 years. Ayzatulin said that “the increase in the proportion of new HIV cases is observed in the age group of 50-60 years and older.”
In turn, the proportion of young people aged 15 to 20 years, among a newly virus is reduced. So, in 2012 it amounted to about 1.6 percent, and now — less than one percent. In addition, according to representatives of Rospotrebnadzor, the third of detected cases of HIV infection among this age group has on rural residents.
Ayzatulin noted that among the HIV infected young people from 20 to 30 years there are less than 20 percent. In 2012, the figure was approximately 36 percent.
The representative of Rospotrebnadzor said that more than 50 percent of Russians get the virus through sexual contact. “From the beginning of registration of HIV infection in our country has died more than 200 thousand HIV-infected in 2018 such citizens more than 36 thousand. The leading cause of death among people living with HIV is tuberculosis,” concluded Ayzatulin.
Earlier it was reported that in Russia a quarter of HIV-positive people (25 percent) are unaware of their status. According to the Federal centre for AIDS when Rospotrebnadzor, in Russia by the end of 2018, there were more than a million HIV positive.
