Statement of the American Ambassador in Germany on the question of construction of the pipeline is unacceptable and creates the impression that Germany is a US colony. This statement was made at the international gas conference, the head of the Bundestag Committee for economy and energy, Klaus Ernst, RIA Novosti reported.
“The Americans want to sell their gas on the European market, and the measures that they employ, not always pleasant. These measures are directed not only against Russians, but also deliberately against the Europeans (…) the actions of the us Ambassador in Germany at the present time is simply unacceptable, there is an impression that we are a colony of the United States” — leads the Agency of his word.
The conference, which was attended by Ernst, organized by the Union of organizations of the oil and gas industry, “Russian gas society”.
In March, Vice-President of the Bundestag Wolfgang Kubicki proposed to expel the U.S. Ambassador, Richard Grenell because of his statements about the plans of Germany on defense spending. According to the politician, the Ambassador behaves “as the high Commissioner of the occupation authorities”.
In January Grenell sent to the German companies of the letter, which warned of the threat of us sanctions against them due to support construction of the pipeline. Remarks of U.S. Ambassador to Germany was seen as interference in the internal Affairs of the country.
“Nord stream-2” gas pipeline project, which would pass under the Baltic sea from Russia to Germany. The project launch is scheduled for the end of 2019. The United States has threatened sanctions in the European project and its participants, in parallel lobbying for the delivery of a liquefied natural gas, which is more expensive than Russian pipeline.
