The current President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko urged the newly elected President Vladimir Zelensky “follow the letter and spirit” of the language law, which provides for the exclusive use of the Ukrainian language in most spheres of life. About it reports “Ukrainian truth”.

Poroshenko expressed hope that the team Zelensky will carefully consider the text of the document.

According to the Ukrainian leader, “the accusations that this law diminishes the rights of foreign citizens, are absolutely groundless,” because for them there is a law on the languages of national minorities and their rights are protected by the Ukrainian Constitution.

The law the President believes is “stimulating and motivating”. According to him, the document is verified so that no political force has no reason to initiate its revision.

The law “On ensuring the functioning of Ukrainian as the state language”, the Verkhovna Rada adopted on 25 April. Later in the Parliament made four resolutions, which proposed to annul the results of voting for the document, but the majority of deputies voted against it. Immediately after the vote, the speaker of Parliament Andriy Parubiy has signed the law, he was later signed by the President.

The team Zelensky law called the method of “whip”, urging to increase the number of “cakes” around the Ukrainian language.

According to the document, officials have to say on the “move” (in Ukrainian) at meetings, events, meetings, and public authorities — use version of computer software with the interface in the state language. All pages of the state bodies, enterprises and the state-run media should be conducted in Ukrainian.
