The ambassadors of the countries “the Big seven” (G7) called on the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to a smooth transfer of power to elected head of state, Vladimir Zelensky. About it on Twitter said the French mission of the G7 in Kiev.
As stated in the statement of diplomats, they met with Poroshenko to discuss the reform process, launched during his presidency. They welcomed the achievements of the Ukrainian leader and called for a painless transit authority.
“[Smooth transfer of authority] will allow Ukraine to continue her chosen path of reforms,” concluded the ambassadors of the G7.
Poroshenko thanked the diplomats for their support during the last five years, it said on the website of the President. It is noted that during the meeting special attention was paid to the question of continuing the policy of sanctions against Moscow, as well as consolidation of efforts for the release of the detained Russian side of the Ukrainian sailors in the Kerch Strait.
On 15 may it became known that in 2020, Kiev is going to invite the European Union to revise the Association agreement concluded in 2014. Previously Advisor Zelensky has told about his intention to stay the course for membership in the international community, which was followed by Poroshenko.
Zelensky won the second round of presidential elections with a score of 73,22% of the votes. According to Ukrainian legislation, the date of the inauguration shall be appointed not later than 30 days after the official announcement of the election results. In this case, the deadline for the inauguration — may 30.
