Mining company Vale has warned that another dam in the state of Minas Gerais has to break soon. About it reports Reuters with reference to the state’s attorney’s office.
You might get a break next week, if the movement of the soil near the mine Congo-Soko will continue at the same rate. The mine was closed down in 2016; 500 people living in the vicinity of the dam, were evacuated in February.
As reported in early may, the state government, the accident could lead to contamination of reservoirs and the lack of drinking water.
In January of this year, is a breakthrough belonging to the Vale of the dam led to flooding of residential areas, which killed 235 people, 35 are still unaccounted for.
In 2015 in the same state because of the dam 16 people died and another 45 are missing. Water waste fixed plant flooded the nearby village of Banto. The building belonged to the company, part of the Vale.
According to authorities, half of the existing in Brazil dams with similar characteristics are in improper condition and chances of their partial destruction.
