President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting on organization in the Republic of parliamentary elections. About it reports a press-service of the head of state.
Lukashenko urged to pre-solve all organizational matters in the period of active election campaign to ensure a calm environment for the free will of the Belarusian people. “Requirements for the conduct of the election campaign unchanged. It should be fair elections, without inappropriate restrictions, so that no one would doubt their legitimacy,” — said the Belarusian leader.
He also said that elections should be held in strict accordance with the law. “We certainly don’t want to fall under the criticism of our neighbors and representatives of other countries, it is nevertheless necessary to remember the main thing — it is the Belarusian elections,” — said the head of state.
Lukashenka’s opinion, MPs should be “people with the state thinking.” Among them he included lawyers, academics, entrepreneurs, politicians and public figures. “The Parliament must become a discussion platform for dialogue of deputies with different political views, while sharing the main principles: independence, sustainable development and the welfare of the Belarusian people”, — said the President.
In April called announced dates for presidential and parliamentary elections in the country. Presidential elections will be held in 2020, parliamentary in 2019. voting Dates will be announced later.
Lukashenko said that he plans to “play politics”, and both campaigns will be held in strict accordance with the law and the Constitution.
The deadline for the current powers of Parliament and the President of Belarus expires in 2020. The law does not prohibit to hold them at the same time, however, Belarus has developed a political practice is not to combine the presidential elections with other election campaigns.
