Specialists of the National institutes of health found that eating processed foods contributes to the epidemic of obesity. While fresh produce this effect, not cause. About it reported in a press release on MedicalXpress.

In a controlled trial was attended by 20 people, whose average age has reached 31 years. Within two weeks, each volunteer received a first processed foods, then switched to raw food. The subjects ate three times a day, drank bottled water and had access to their respective diet snacks for each day.

Processed foods included Breakfast cereal, whole milk with added fiber, margarine and muffin. Alternative diet consisted of fruits, berries, olive oil and Greek yogurt.

It turned out that in the first two weeks, the volunteers consumed 508 calories per day more than in the following days of the study. Their weight increased by approximately pounds, also saw an increase fat deposits. However, the use of raw foods during the same time period returned health indicators back to normal.
