Russia and Syria are not fighting against civilians and infrastructure. This statement was made by Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, reports TASS.
“Our goal is to terrorists what some of you prefer not to mention,” said the diplomat. Russia rejects accusations of violation of international humanitarian law in the Syrian Idlib.
The diplomat urged the UN and agencies of international organizations not to throw unverified information about the losses among the civilian population. According to Nebenzu, Russia refuses to consider terrorists untouchable and will continue to fight with them.
On may 17 it was reported that the planes of Air and space forces (VKS) Russia fired on the positions of jihadists in the rural areas of Aleppo, Syria.
On 10 may it became known that Russia blocked a UN security Council statement on Syria.
In April the Russian space forces have done more airstrikes in Syria than in all previous months this year. This is due to the fact that in the North-Western part of Syria increased activity of the militants, “Hayat Tahrir al-sham” (HTS created on the basis of the banned in Russia “Dzhabhat EN-Nusra”).
