Several Russian resorts received the award “Blue flag”, which is given to the cleanest beaches in the world. It is reported by the Association of tour operators of Russia (ATOR) with reference to the results of a study of the European Foundation for environmental education (FEE).
Just 2019, the rating FEE includes 13 beaches of Sochi, including kids “the Seagull”, “seaside”, “Riviera”, “Seaside”, “Camellia”, “seaside-1”, “Maurice Thorez”, as well as the beaches of the spas “polar”, “South”, hotel “Velvet seasons” and “Radisson Paradise,” the resort “Rosa Khutor” and the beach area near the camp site “the Seagull”, and Amber beach in the Kaliningrad region.
In addition, the Fund’s experts have identified the country with the largest number of clean beaches. In the first place in the list were Spain (566 beaches with the “Blue flag”). It was followed by Greece (515 clean beaches), Turkey (463 beach), France (389 beaches) and Italy (385 beaches).
Blue flag — the international award, presented annually to a non-profit organization “Foundation for environmental education” since 1985. This award celebrates ecologically clean beaches, which respects all safety standards and ensures a high quality of water. In total, 2019, holders of the Blue flag are about 4.5 thousand coastal zones in 47 countries.
