European officials will try to find out whether it is possible to prohibit the entry into EU to the residents of Eastern Ukraine who received Russian passports. About it the correspondent of radio “Free Europe” Rikard sources from Apple wrote on Twitter.
“Ambassadors of EU countries discussed the question of issuing Russian passports in Eastern Ukraine. Sanctions wanted to enter only 7 members, so far to unity. But, they instructed the Commission to find out whether it is possible to prevent the entry into the EU of people with such passports,” said the correspondent, without giving exact references to the sources.
The decree on the facilitation of the issuance of Russian passports to inhabitants of the DNI and LC was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 24. Then he noted that this measure is of a purely humanitarian nature and is not intended to create problems for the Ukrainian authorities. Later Putin said it is considering to simplify the issuing of Russian citizenship for all Ukrainians. Foreign Minister of Czech Republic said that the EU has no plans to impose sanctions against Russia because of this decree, and his colleague from Romania stressed that sanctions against Russia will create problems for Ukraine.
Elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and the current head of state Petro Poroshenko accused Russia in recognition of his occupational activities. Kyiv is considering the possibility to deny benefits, social benefits and pensions of all Ukrainians to obtain Russian passports.
