76 Russian fifth generation fighter aircraft su-57 can not be 170 billion rubles, says The Drive.
The American newspaper says that “there are serious questions about how realistic such a price tag”, according to which one of the su-57 would cost 34 million dollars. “This is less than the estimated price su-30МКК, which Russia sold China nearly two decades ago,” notes The Drive.
The publication “difficult to understand how any improvements to the production line or change the configuration of the aircraft can lead to such a drastic price reduction”.
In The Drive suggest that in fact over 170 billion rubles (2,63 billion) will be purchased only the first batch of fighters of the 16 machines (that is at a price more than 164 million dollars per unit).
According to TASS, in 2000-2001, Russia supplied China with 38 multi-role fighters su-30ММК contract in 1999 worth about $ 1.5 billion (that is at a price more than $ 39 million per unit).
16 may, “Kommersant”, citing sources, reported that the value of the contract for the purchase of 76 su-57 for the needs of the aerospace defence forces of Russia can reach 170 billion rubles.
On 15 may the President of Russia Vladimir Putin said about the purchase in the period up to 2028 76 su-57. According to the head of the state, the acquisition of 76 fighters instead of the planned 16 was made possible by reducing the price of the manufacturer at 20 percent.
In the same month it was reported that because of U.S. sanctions relating to composite materials, the su-57 may become “all-metal” that “can affect the high-tech apparatus.”
