The Governor of Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuyvashev invited the residents of Yekaterinburg to discuss alternative sites for the construction of the temple of the Holy Martyr Catherine, which was built on the site of the Park. About it reports “Interfax”.
According to him, the list of possible locations for the construction of the temple will be published may 20 in the media, on the websites of regional and municipal authorities. The Governor noted that in addition to the square, on October square, the list will include four more sites. Citizens will also be able to offer their own versions.
“The problem is not so — the Church or the square. The temple and square — we need the city and the citizens. And where be the temple, and where the square should solve all you inhabitants of Yekaterinburg”, — said Kuyvashev.
Earlier it was reported that the mayoralty of Ekaterinburg has agreed to conduct an independent survey on the construction of a temple on the site of the city square. It was noted that according to previous polls, the majority of residents belong to the construction of the temple indifferently.
On Thursday the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, speaking at a media Forum of independent regional and local media, has offered to conduct a survey among the local population. He stressed that religious buildings should unite people, not divide.
