The Minister of foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza said that the country is ready for dialogue with the United States. This was reported on the website of the government of the Republic.
Arreaza believes that the United States failed in its strategy in Venezuela. However, he confirmed his readiness to establish cooperation with Washington. “It is time for diplomacy, we are ready to return to diplomacy, to sit at the negotiating table and to respect each other,” said the Minister.
Arreaza noted that in accordance with the 45th article of the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations in the event of a rupture of diplomatic relations, the state may entrust the protection of its Embassy to a third country. According to him, the USA was entrusted to protect a representative office in Switzerland Caracas, Venezuela is to entrust the protection of the Turkish Embassy.
The situation in Venezuela escalated on 23 January, when the opposition leader Juan Guido amid mass protests declared himself interim President. Its legitimacy is recognized by the US, several countries in Latin America and Europe. Russia supported the incumbent head of state Nicolas Maduro. At the end of April, Guido made an unsuccessful attempt at the “final phase” of the coup.
