Petro Poroshenko has signed the decree about the dismissal of the Secretary of the Council for national security and defence of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov. This was reported on the website of the President of Ukraine.
On his last day in office, Poroshenko has approved a request Turchinov. He decided to leave on may 17 in connection with the termination of office of the President, having declared that “is ready to continue to defend the country in any military unit.”
Turchinov became Secretary of the national security Council 16 December 2014. After the overthrow of Viktor Yanukovych as President in February of the same year he took the position of Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, and then four months became acting head of state.
May 18, Poroshenko has dismissed 14 of his advisors, press Secretary and presidential representative in the Verkhovna Rada. He also released from duties of the first assistant to the President Yuriy Onishchenko, and the Commissioner for the peaceful settlement of the situation in the Donbass Irina Gerashchenko.
May 20, a ceremony of inauguration of the new President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
