In the German city of Wuppertal (North Rhine-Westphalia) began the second trial in the case of the so-called Sharia police. About this reports Deutsche Welle.

In the dock stood seven people, aged from 27 to 37 years old. To them threatens till two years of imprisonment for violation of the ban on the wearing of the uniform.

It is reported that in 2014, Islamist activists in vests reading “Sharia police” carried out night raids on Cologne. The patrol conducted interviews with youth on the street, trying to catch in the use of alcohol or tobacco and persistently explaining to local residents the need to abandon “bad habits” — visits to concerts, bars, night clubs and discos. Activists have posted a video report about the work done.

Interior Minister Thomas de maizière, then, in connection with the emergence of the patrols made a special statement in which it recalled that the authorities will not tolerate Sharia law on German soil and will not allow anyone to tarnish the reputation of the police. After this initiative, young Muslims have stopped patrolling.

In 2016, the court has already handed down a not-guilty verdict against seven activists of the “Sharia police”, but in 2018, the Federal court of justice reversed the decision and sent for retrial.
