The inauguration of the new President of Ukraine was held on Monday, may 20, in the morning. His top priority, he called the end of the conflict in the South-East of the country.
May 18, Zelensky made a statement about the plans for the return of the Crimea to the Ukraine. “I believe that we will liberate the homeland of the Crimean Tatars from the occupation. And let however long was the way for the return of the Crimea, we’ll get through this together,” — said the politician. He later also assured that he will continue to return to their homeland “prisoners of the Kremlin.”
Crimea became part of Russia according to the results of a referendum held in March 2014. Ukraine and much of the international community does not recognize its results and consider the presence of the Peninsula as part of Russia’s occupation. The Russian side insists that the process of the annexation of Crimea meets standards of international law.
