Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinian said that his political opponents are trying to sow discord between the peoples of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. It is reported portal NEWS.am.

According to Pashinian, in the country there are political forces that use their “corrupt communication to conduct the false propaganda in Karabakh against Armenian government and personally the Prime Minister”. What is this force, the Prime Minister said.

“I’m in the last year said they see short-sighted goals, up to provoke a conspiratorial war, putting some of the territories and assumption of responsibility for the incident on the government of Armenia,” Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister said that he is the guarantor of security in Nagorno-Karabakh and as commander in chief of the Armed forces of Armenia will take “strict measures to eradicate these conspiratorial intentions.”

Earlier, Pashinyan said that the deterioration in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict may become for radical Islamists “very good reason to settle, for example, in Azerbaijan”.

In February, the Armenian leader presented to Parliament the program of the Cabinet of Ministers on the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh, according to which the government of the unrecognized Republic should become a party to the negotiations to resolve the conflict. This initiative, noted Pashinyan, interferes with the position of Azerbaijan.

In December 2018, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said that currently developed the optimal conditions for the solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Among the factors affecting it, he listed the growing power, potential, economic, military and political power of Azerbaijan and strengthening of international position of Baku.

Nagorno-Karabakh, populated mostly by ethnic Armenians, declared independence from Azerbaijan in 1991. Baku tried to bring the region under their control by force, but failed. In 1994, Azerbaijan, Armenia and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic signed under the mediation of Russia, the Bishkek Protocol on ceasefire.
