Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced major reform of the judicial system of the country. This was reported by NEWS.am.
According to Pashinian, during the last years in the country formed the Executive and the legislature that enjoys the confidence of the people, but the judicial system still remains a challenge, and the decisions of the judges cause “social unrest”. In this regard, the Prime Minister announced a number of “surgery” in the judiciary system of the country, which will allow her to get rid of the “shadow interference by the old corrupt system.”
Earlier on may 20 in addition to supporters blocked the entrances to the courts throughout the country, including the Supreme judicial Council. The demonstrators followed the call of the Prime Minister, which was made after the court released from-under guards of the former President Robert Kocharian. He vouched for the former President of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Bako Sahakyan and his predecessor Arkady Ghukasian. This decision caused strong dissatisfaction among the supporters of the current government.
Kocharian was arrested on 27 July 2018 on charges of overthrowing the constitutional order. Less than a month he was released from custody under recognizance not to leave, but then again he was detained after a complaint of the Prosecutor General.
