The Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak has resigned after calling President Vladimir Zelensky. A resignation letter he posted on his Facebook account.
“I have honor”, — commented on the statement of Poltorak.
Vladimir Zelensky after the inauguration of the head of state urged the Verkhovna Rada to dismiss the Minister of defense Stepan Poltorak, the head of the security Service of Ukraine Vasily Gritsak and Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko.
On may 17 a letter of resignation, wrote to the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin. On the same day about his desire to leave the post of Secretary of the Council for national security and defense said Alexander Turchinov.
Stepan Poltorak was appointed Minister of defense of Ukraine from 14 October 2014. In October 2018 Petro Poroshenko dismissed him from military service. Poltorak continued to hold the post of the head of Department, but in the civil status in connection with requirements of the law on national security and NATO standards.
