The UN has warned of the dangers of “nuclear grave” USA

Radioactive waste generated during nuclear weapons testing in the United States, can fall into the Pacific ocean. This was stated by the UN Secretary-General, antónio Guterres, reports Fox News.

We are talking about a radioactive dump on the island of Hurt in the composition of enewetak Atoll, where from 1948 to 1958 was arranged nuclear explosions, and later were brought contaminated soil after other tests. According to Guterres, currently stored radioactive sludge seeping into the sea.

Filled with concrete crater of radioactive waste called “nuclear grave”. Built in the 1970-ies, the cement dome with a thickness of 43 cm was planned as a temporary measure, but later the U.S. government recognized the construction of sufficiently reliable for long-term storage of the poisoned soil.

President of the Marshall Islands Hilda Hine Guterres warned that the dome was already cracked, and in the case of a strong tropical cyclone, it can completely disintegrate.
