The British publication Mail Online conducted a study which found that 150 grams diet smoothies contains the same amount of sugar, and eight doughnuts. The results of the study were published by the Daily Mail newspaper.
The experiment involved six popular manufacturers smoothies with the lowest sugar content. The minimum amount of sugar amounted to about 70 grams, as the Bank of Coca-Cola, despite the fact that adults should consume no more than 30 grams of free sugars a day, says the publication.
According to nutritionists, people usually do not pay attention to the serving sizes of smoothies and do not read what is written on the label before purchasing. They noted that this amount of sugar is a threat to health and may cause the development of diseases such as diabetes or obesity.
The specialists of the American Academy of Neurology found that consuming sugary drinks and soda increases the severity of the symptoms of multiple sclerosis is a common autoimmune disease that affects the Central nervous system.
