The heads of state discussed the crisis in Ukraine and the “failed policies of the administration Poroshenko” as well as transition of leadership in the country. Putin reminded about the necessary steps to settle the armed conflict in the Donbass: the law on the special status individual regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, the dilution of forces and means in the line of conflict, and the need for direct dialogue between Kiev and the breakaway republics.
The Russian leader expressed surprise because of the failure of the UN security Council to discuss the law about the exclusivity of the Ukrainian language. At the Council meeting held on 20 may, the participating countries voted against the consideration of this question.
