A meeting of citizens of the Chechen village of Tsentaroy, where he was born and lived the first head of the Republic Akhmat Kadyrov supported the renaming of the village in Ahmet-Yurt. Now the villagers are planning to apply this initiative to the authorities, reports “Interfax”.
“Over the proposal to rename Tsentaroy to Ahmet-Yurt was voted by all the participants of the gathering unanimously”, — reads the statement of the Public chamber of Chechnya. Members of the national Assembly also noted that Kadyrov-the senior “has outstanding merits before the Chechen people and the whole Russia” because “he was able to achieve victory over terrorism.”
Earlier, on may 20, speaker of the Parliament of the Chechen Republic Magomed Daudov proposed to rename Tsentaroy in honor of Akhmat Kadyrov. On his page in Instagram Daudov noted that this village is a “the most worthy and legendary konah (“man of honor” — approx. “Of the tape.ru)” Chechen people.”
Akhmad Kadyrov during the first Chechen campaign in 1994-1996, he held the post of mufti of the unrecognized Republic of Ichkeria. Kadyrov supported the leader of the Chechen separatists Aslan Maskhadov and the Chechens called for Jihad — Holy war against infidels.
During the second Chechen war, Kadyrov played a key role in the peaceful transfer of most of the villages and cities of Chechnya under the control of Federal forces.
May 9, 2004, Kadyrov was killed in an explosion at the Dynamo stadium in Grozny. Responsibility for the attack took over one of the rebel leaders Shamil Basayev. May 10, 2004, Russian President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded the Akhmad Kadyrov the Hero of Russia.
