Apple changed the ownership of the Crimea on its maps, but still did not do so in the app “Weather”, said the head of the Duma Committee on information policy, Leonid Levin, RIA Novosti reported.
“One of the services that we are talking about “the Weather” today the territorial affiliation removed,” said Levine following the meeting of deputies with representatives of Apple.
He explained that some cities of the Crimea is not currently displayed as a territory of Russia but not recognized as the territory of Ukraine. The MP stressed that, formally, “it is not a violation”.
“On the cards eliminated observations which were from the state Duma, and Russia’s territory, including Crimea, is today shown as a whole”, — said the Deputy.
According to Levin, the state Duma will inform on the timing of changes in the “Weather” for weeks.
Earlier, the deputies of the state Duma met with the General Director of the Russian representation Apple Vitaly Moroz’ko. The meeting discussed the incorrect display of territorial belonging of the Crimea and Sevastopol in the Maps app.
Crimea became part of Russia in March 2014. This was preceded by a referendum, the results of which refuse to recognize Ukraine, the EU, USA and other countries. Moscow insists on compliance with procedures of international law.
