Russia using military force is a threat to Europe. This was stated by the foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Maas in the air of broadcasting company WDR, which is broadcast from the forum on European unity.
“We in Europe feel more than enough pressure from the outside. In recent years, the world has changed dramatically (…). Russia using military force is trying to change politics — and Syria, and Ukraine,” said Maas. The foreign Minister also said that Europe is having problems because of the United States who refuse to accept international obligations, and from China, which is trying to split the EU with economic influence.
Earlier, on may 17, Maas urged to return Russia to full membership in the Council of Europe. “The place of Russia in the Council of Europe, with all the rights and responsibilities that are associated with it”, — he told reporters before flying to Helsinki, which hosted the conference of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
