Kazakhstan is ready to become an alternative oil supplier to Belarus, said Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Ermukhamet Ertysbayev, quoted by BelTA.
“Just yesterday, the Ambassador of Belarus to Kazakhstan [Anatoly] Nichkasov held a very intense and important talks with industry Ministry for the supply of oil and petroleum products. We are ready, there is no problem. We have oil and petroleum products abound,” said Ertysbaev.
According to him, approve the agreement honey Minsk and Nur-Sultan needs Russia, because the supply of oil is planned via the pipeline passing through its territory. Moscow will continue to remain a strategic partner of both countries, the Ambassador added.
Earlier on may 23, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko urged the sides to intensify negotiations on the supply of Kazakh oil to Belarus as an alternative to Russian gas. The need for this arose after the contamination of the oil pipeline “Friendship” and the supply of substandard oil from Russia, as it became known in mid-April.
