The government of Mexico decided to help the poor citizens, selling at auction real estate and cars of corrupt officials. About it reports The Guardian.
Programme of assistance to the poor was called “Robin hood”. All proceeds from the auction money will go to the municipalities for social projects. “Everything confiscated [the criminals] will be returned to the communities, especially the poor,” said the President of Mexico, andrés Manuel lópez Obrador.
The first auction will be held on may 26 in the former presidential residence of Los Pinos. Reuters reports that the auction will be presented to the 82 car brands Lamborghini Murciélago, Mercedes-Benz, Chevrolet, Posche. Their total initial cost is 1.5 million dollars (approximately 97 million).
In addition, the auction exhibited three houses, one of which belongs to the former policy. The money will go to help people undergoing rehabilitation from drugs. It is noted that some opposition members felt the event populism.
In September 2018, the President of Mexico declared the bankruptcy of the country.
