North Korea has refused to resume negotiations with the US on nuclear disarmament. It is reported by the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea (KCNA).
“Until the US put aside the current method of assessing [the situation] and propose a new method, the dialogue between the DPRK and the U.S. will never start again”, — said the official representative of the foreign Ministry of North Korea. He noted that the DPRK has taken significant measures, including the renunciation of nuclear testing, however, the United States has not responded to these gestures of goodwill in the same way.
In addition, the U.S. side, according to Pyongyang, trying to impose on North Korean responsibility for the failure in negotiations in Hanoi, Vietnam. The North Korean foreign Ministry advises U.S. to “return to reality and re-learn a dialogue”.
On 27 and 28 February 2019 in the capital of Vietnam Hanoi hosted the second meeting of the President of the United States Donald trump and the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-UN. The talks ended two hours ahead of time. According to their results, the parties have not reached concrete agreements and has not signed the joint statement. Trump said that he hoped for further cooperation and believe the promises of his colleagues on nuclear disarmament.
The first summit of the USA — DPRK was held in Singapore on 12 June 2018. In the result, the parties adopted a joint agreement which stated about the readiness of North Korea to complete denuclearization. In response, the US pledged to provide Pyongyang with security guarantees.
