A group of Pro-Ukrainian activists burned a Russian flag before a concert of singer Elena Temnikova in Odessa. As UNIAN news Agency reports, the incident occurred at the Arcadia beach.
The evening of may 24 at the entrance to the club, which was scheduled concert, the activists scattered leaflets with the image of Temnikovo, putting on the face mask of Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the hands of the protesters held posters “Temnikova — a friend of Putin” and “Elena Temnikova, away to a foreign land!”.
After that, the activists unfurled a Russian tricolor, doused him in flammable liquid and set on fire. Simultaneously, they shouted slogans “Glory to Ukraine”, “Ukraine above all” and “glory to the nation”. Your flash mob, the protesters explained that Temnikova supports the transition of Crimea to Russia and “does not hide his love for Putin and [Prime Minister Dmitry] Medvedev.”
The club organized a concert singer before her performance appealed to the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and the Ministry of internal Affairs of the country. “Artist Elena Temnikova passed border control in Odessa. Thus, the SBU (security Service of Ukraine — approx. “Of the tape.ru”) and border guard service of Ukraine is considered fully legitimate finding Elena Temnikova on the territory of Ukraine”, — said in a message posted on Facebook account of the institution.
Pro-Ukrainian activists regularly try to disrupt performances of artists from Russia on the territory of the country. The main reason for their discontent is that the members of a culture coming to a neighboring state, support the work of the Russian authorities and visit the Crimea. In March, members of the banned in Russia organization “Right sector” reported about intentions to disrupt concerts of the writer-satirist Michael Zhvanetsky in Kiev and Odessa.
In the summer of 2017, the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada proposed to prohibit tours of Russian artists in Ukraine. The exception, according to the bill, was to receive those in writing or publicly recognize Russia as “aggressor country”.
Relations between Moscow and Kiev deteriorated in 2014 in connection with the reunification of the Crimea with Russia and the beginning of the conflict in the Donbass. Ukraine accuses Russia of conducting military operations in the South-East of the country, Moscow points to the lack of evidence and denies the allegations.
