Klimkin appreciated the statement of Russia on the Ukrainian sailors

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin called a lethargic and toothless review of the MFA of Russia regarding the decision of the International Tribunal of the UN on the incident in the Kerch Strait. The statement he posted on his Twitter account.

“Read lethargic and toothless statement the foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation concerning the decision of the International Tribunal for the law of the sea, and understand the scale of our present victory,” wrote Klimkin.

He said that Moscow should back the Ukrainian ships and the release of the arrested sailors. This tweet Minister was accompanied by a photograph of his embracing colleagues and signed: “And it looks like a simple diplomatic happiness.”

Earlier decision of the Tribunal, said the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. According to him, completing the set conditions, Russia can take a step toward unblocking negotiations and solving problems in a civilized way.

May 25 is the international UN Tribunal for the law of the sea ruled, according to which Moscow must release three Ukrainian ship and 24 sailors who were arrested after the incident in the Kerch Strait in November 2018. On the implementation of this decision shall be reported until June 25.

In turn, the Russian foreign Ministry said that the detention of the Ukrainian ships in the Black sea is outside the jurisdiction of international arbitration and the UN Convention on the law of the sea may not be involved in resolving the dispute between Moscow and Kiev on this issue.
