Gitanas, Nauseate: Ints Kalnins / Reuters
In Lithuania ended in the second round of the presidential election. About it reports Delfi.
After processing most votes the winner was an independent candidate, economist Gitanas Nausea. He was supported by 68.4% of voters. His rival, former Finance Minister Ingrida Simonyte scored 30.3 percent of the vote. Vote counting continues, but the results will not change significantly.
In the first round, which was held may 12 for the presidency fought nine people. Nausea scored 30 percent of the vote, simonite lagged behind less than one percent. To win in the first round, a candidate must obtain at least 51 percent of the vote.
Citizens elect the President for a term of five years with the possibility of a single re-election. Since 2009 the presidency was held by Dalia Grybauskaite, in 2014 she was re-elected for a second term.
