The Consulate General of Russia in Guangzhou demanded China’s explanation regarding the solution to verify the correspondence of Russian tourists when entering the country. It is reported TASS with reference to the diplomat of the Consulate General Gregory Kolyshkin.
According to him, the Consulate sent a Chinese official appeal with the request to explain on what basis the stricter validation criteria. “We asked them what criteria compromising information, reason to check the phone whether it is innovation, and if so, why it was not notified in a timely manner,” said kolyshkin.
He also added that a few tourists from Russia have complained that they check the phones when crossing the border. “There was a case when a person came here on a business visa to work, and as you know, it’s forbidden,” said kolyshkin.
On may 27, the Consulate General of Russia in Guangzhou warned Russian tourists that if you enter China via Guangzhou, the border police can check their correspondence in Wechat, WhatsApp, Viber and other applications. It was noted that such measures are taken in order to determine whether the real purpose of a visit to China stated.
