The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko called the charges against the former President, Petro Poroshenko, is trying to rewrite history. He stated this in the program “Svoboda words” on ICTV channel. Recording broadcast is available on YouTube.
He commented on the statement of the Deputy from “Opposition bloc of Pro — life” Sergei Shufrych, who saw signs of high treason in the orders of Poroshenko and former Secretary of the national security Council and defence of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov to take military action in the Donbass.
Lutsenko believes that this is an attempt to “make criminals of those who loves and defends his country.” He pointed out that former President Turchynov has ordered to “shoot anyone who occupied our land” (Kiev believes Russia is an occupant country that seized the South-East of Ukraine — approx. “Of the tape.ru”).
“I will stay [at his post], despite the fact that this is not a very popular position that these statements had nothing to do with the law,” he said.
In his inaugural speech the new President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that Lutsenko should resign after the head of the security service, Vasyl Hrytsak and defense Minister Stepan Poltorak. The head of state said earlier that he did not intend to cooperate with Lutsenko, because he is a man Poroshenko. The attorney General has announced that it plans to leave the post after the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada and politics.
On may 27, the State Bureau of investigation (GBR) filed against Poroshenko the fifth criminal case under the statement of lawyer Andrew Port, the former Deputy head of the presidential administration of Viktor Yanukovych. It relates to the possible illegal acquisition of the channel “Direct”. Portnow also accuses Poroshenko in an attempt of usurpation of the judicial power, treason, money laundering and tax evasion. Another charge for the incident in the Kerch Strait — the lawyer considers the actions of Kiev as an attempt to seize power.
