American researchers came to the conclusion that exercise helps reduce the risk of premature death among older people with a large amount of abdominal fat. About it reported in a press release on MedicalXpress.
In the study participated 77 people at the age of 70 years, weight of visceral fat which exceed 1-2 kg. 36 volunteers were doing group exercises for 10 weeks three times a week. First, the training lasted 18 minutes, with a gradual increase its duration to 36 minutes. For each exercise, you spent 40 seconds with a rest period of 20 seconds. The other participants were in the control group and led usual life.
It turned out that exercise promoted fat loss by almost pounds and increased muscle mass by almost 0.5 kg. This effect was more noticeable in men than in women.
It is known that with age, muscle mass decreases and the redistribution of adipose tissue. Most often, fat is stored in the abdomen, which, as shown, increases the risk of death from cardiovascular disease.
