Journalist Dmitry Guberniev in Instagram account mocked Czech biathlete Gabriela Koukalova for retirement.

Guberniev wrote that stopped to chat with the athlete after she “began to go crazy and behave strangely”. In his opinion, Koukalova trained “as a workhorse”, and then suddenly decided to retire from the sport. Guberniev did not like how the 29-year-old athlete explained his decision.

“Suddenly, she felt a joy that she didn’t need to win the race! I just roll with laughter! My biathlon Slippers and neighing loudly! Lies and hypocrisy even in the statement of the athletes! FIE on you again!” — the journalist summed up.

Koukalova announced his retirement from the sport on 28 may. In an interview with Sport.ceskatelevize she said that the time has come for a new stage in life. “I felt happy about the fact that I don’t have to win the race, I realized that the imaginary victory does not make life happy,” — said the athlete.

Koukalova is the biathlon winner of the main trophy — the “Big crystal globe” in 2015/16. She has also won two silver medals of the Sochi Olympics. The games in Pyeongchang athlete missed due to problems with the calf muscles.

In November 2017, she called to remove the Russians from the Olympics in South Korea. She also accused of domestic biathlonists of fraud.
