In the Laboratory for labor market studies, HSE concluded that the foreign language increases the income of workers in Russia on average by 11 percent.
It is noted that for fluent salary increase increases to 27 percent, which is comparable with Spain and Mexico.
The study also States that a bachelor’s degree and above provides an increase of 13 percent, which is 4 percentage points higher than for individuals without higher education.
More than others on a raise in the foreign language by 22 percent — can expect senior and middle managers.
According to the authors of the study, the market makes a steady demand for employees with language skills, but in Russia not so much. The figure among young people — only 35.5 percent from 30 to 39 years old — 21.9%, from 40 years — 11.6%.
