The incidence of cervical cancer from 2019 to 2030 could rise twice. In this connection it is necessary to include the vaccine against human papillomavirus (HPV) in the national immunization schedule, said the Director of the National medical research center of Oncology named after N. N. Petrova, Ministry of health of Russia Alexei Belyaev at the meeting of the expert Council on healthcare of the Council of the Federation. This writes TASS.
According to him, since the beginning of 1990-ies by the year 2030, mortality due to cervical cancer will increase in 1,5 times. “If nothing will do, then from 2019 to 2030 will be 295 thousand cases, and the die 130 thousand women,” — said Belyaev.
As noted by the assistant Director of the National scientific medical research center. V. I. Kulakov scientific work Leila Adamyan, along with HPV vaccination should be introduced for women mandatory screening. In addition, in her opinion, it is best to start producing the vaccine in Russia.
At the conclusion of the meeting of the expert Council in the Federation Council recommended to develop and implement a plan to expand the National vaccination calendar in the coming years (2020 and 2030), which will be carried out immunization of boys and girls aged 12-13 years against HPV.
As previously reported, Russian researchers together with colleagues from Portugal and France discovered a simple method for early detection of cancer. Experts have developed a test, which can be detected in the human body fragments of DNA from victims of atypical cells with fragments of a mutant version of the gene TERT. The accuracy of the method allows to find one dead cancer cell among hundreds healthy.
