Future Christmas holidays will be eight days and not ten, as in the current and previous years, according to “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.
Changes related to the fact that on 30 and 31 December this time falls on weekdays. Thus, the Russians will have a rest from 1 to 8 January.
The draft government decree, according to the newspaper, has not been approved and should be considered by the Russian tripartite Commission on regulation socially-labour relations.
In the same initiative in 2020 it is proposed to increase the may holidays on may 4 and 5 will be moved to the weekend of 4 and 5 January, falling on Saturday and Sunday.
Earlier, on January 14, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said about the harmful effects of too long new year holidays on the economy. “14 days to almost country little something creates, but it is very well said,” said the Prime Minister.
