The preparations for the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is close to critical. This is stated in the official statement of the CEC.
The Ministry said that an early election it is urgent to amend the law “On public procurement”. The responsibility for the delay in this process, the Central election Commission has entrusted the Ministry of economic development of Ukraine. “It is the Ministry of economic development, as the public body responsible for the formation and implementation of state policy in the area of public procurement, has long had to consider numerous requests for appropriate changes in legislation that would avoid a critical situation with preparation for the extraordinary elections of people’s deputies”, — stated in the message.
The CEC also added that they welcome “any steps” aimed at solving problems with the procurement organization.
Earlier on may 27, Deputy head of the CEC of Ukraine Yevhen Radchenko said that early elections to the Parliament could be derailed because of the fact that the statutory period will not be able to print more than 60 million ballots. Also, according to him, the CEC may not be able to enter into tender contracts for the production of information posters of election participants.
Early elections to Ukraine’s Parliament scheduled for July 21. On the third day of his presidency, Vladimir Zelensky was introduced in Parliament a bill to amend tender procedures during the electoral process, marking it as urgent. The document was not included in the agenda, as was another presidential bill amending the electoral system with a mixed proportional with open lists.
