The Russian military will go to the UN mission in the Central African Republic (CAR) until the end of July. This was stated by Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov, reports TASS.
He noted that the Russians will go to Africa in the near future. “I don’t know until the end of this or next month,” — said Deputy foreign Minister on the sidelines of the St Petersburg international economic forum (SPIEF-2019).
About the impending sending Russian peacekeepers in the Central African Republic became known on June 3. It was reported that in total, the African country will go to 30 people. At the same time, the timing is not designated.
In January the Minister of defence SAM Marie Noel of Kajara said that the country has a center of military training with Russian instructors, and did not rule out appearing on the territory of the Republic of Russian military base.
In November 2018, it was reported that Russian mercenaries, who are linked to billionaire Yevgeny Prigozhin, provided security in several African countries. Among them was called and the CAR.
The foreign Ministry was informed that 170 Russian specialists were sent to this country by agreement with the government and with the approval of the UN Security Council.
