Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev visited the European center for nuclear research (CERN) in Geneva, visited the Large hadron Collider (LHC) and stated the need to seek full membership of the organization and to invest in the modernization of the accelerator of charged particles financial. According to the Agency, first for Medvedev held a presentation about the history, mission and structure of CERN and talked about international cooperation in the framework of the organization, separately focusing on the aspects of cooperation with Russia.

After that, the Prime Minister took the Elevator down to inspect the TANK, located in the depth. There Medvedev spoke about the research carried out on unique equipment, and conducted tours of various work areas.

Having completed the inspection, Medvedev has left record in the guest book. “The visit to CERN and the Large hadron Collider is very impressive. This is a great example of cooperation! Success!” — he wrote.

“I am confident that the prospects of our work is very inspiring,” — said Medvedev at a meeting with Russian scientists working at CERN.

In addition, Medvedev said that Russia should become a full member of CERN, and participate in a new phase of modernization of the TANK, making not only scientific and material contribution: “All the money to participate in the second phase we now planned in the budget.” However, as noted by the Prime Minister, the question of cost should be calculated.

“If we talk about the future, I think that these traditions, which were before laid down, for us, for Russia and create a basis for future cooperation and also to see very optimistic,” — said Medvedev at a meeting with CERN Director Fabiola Gianotti.
