The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that in the appointment of Yuriy Lutsenko to the post of attorney General has violated the Constitution. This is stated in the submitted them to the Verkhovna Rada representation for dismissal of the Prosecutor General, reports Liga.net.
In the document, in particular, says that the current attorney General does not correspond to his post, as has legal education. “Lutsenko Yury Vitalyevich not in conformity with the law of Ukraine “On Prosecutor’s office” requirements of the attorney General, and therefore may not be in this position and his appointment was held in violation of the Constitution and of the law of Ukraine On Prosecutor’s office”, — stated in the petition.
The President also noted that the applicant for a position in the Prosecutor’s office, in addition to specialized education, you must have experience of working in law and be fluent in the state language. None of Lutsenko, in addition to knowledge of the Ukrainian language, the appointment was not.
In early June, the Verkhovna Rada refused to dismiss the Minister of defence Stepan Poltorak and the head of the security Service of Ukraine Vasily Gritsak. Then Zelensky addressed to the deputies, in which he said that the decision to dissolve Parliament was correct.
11 Jun Zelensky has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada representation for dismissal of Lutsenko from the post of Prosecutor General. The basis for inclusion of the document in Parliament was the lack of attorney General legal education and procedural experience.
Yuriy Lutsenko graduated from the Lviv Polytechnic Institute majoring in “electronic engineering technology”. In February of 2012 for committing a series of crimes he was found guilty and sentenced to four years imprisonment. In April of 2013 Lutsenko was released on pardon, signed who was then President Viktor Yanukovych. In may 2016 Lutsenko appointed to the post of Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Before that, the Verkhovna Rada amended the law allowing for appointment of persons without legal training and experience.
May 20, 2019 during the inaugural speech, the President Zelensky urged Lutsenko to resign.
