Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy signed the bill on the powers of Temporary commissions of inquiry (VSK), which will investigate the activities of the President in the event of the issue of his impeachment. He said this in his Twitter account.
In addition, he noted that the document entitled “On provisional investigatory commissions and temporary special commissions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine” transferred to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
Law on the office of VSK was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on June 6. His approval made it possible to launch the procedure of early dismissal of the President from power.
At the end of may Zelensky, introduced in Parliament his bill of impeachment. According to the explanatory Memorandum, they proposed a two-level procedure for impeaching the President from his powers. First, impeachment must be supported by a majority of votes of the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada. Then, prosecutors and special investigators will be formed a Commission to investigate the legality of the actions of the President. Its findings should be confirmed the Supreme constitutional court.
Rada refused to consider the President’s proposed document. The resolution on introducing the bill in the agenda supported only 101 members. In addition, for consideration of the bill in Parliament, his inclusion in the agenda must support of 226 deputies.
