The head of “RUSNANO” Anatoly Chubais proposed to introduce in Russia the “carbon tax”. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to him, this will encourage manufacturers to reduce harmful emissions. Chubais recalled the experience of the European Union, where imported goods are subject to additional tax if they do not meet the requirements to limit CO2 emissions in their production. “If we can easily clear this junction with the tax, believing that we all outsmarted, after 5-7-10 years it turns out that we ourselves shut down exports, including exports, adjustable OPEC. And this thing is very painful,” he explained.
In this case, Chubais urged to deal with emissions, and only then think about the introduction of the tax.
In June 2018, it was reported that the climatologists of the intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC) concluded that global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius will lead to serious climatic changes and the disappearance of natural ecosystems and extinction of many species. According to calculations, in case of preservation of warming trend by the year 2100 will be flooding of coastal cities, as well as disappear some inhabited Islands, including the Maldives.
