The chief of staff of the Armed forces of Ukraine (APU), the General-the Lieutenant Ruslan Homchak believes that the Ukrainian public is one-sided refers to the consequences of the battle for Ilovaysk in 2014, during which the Ukrainian security forces suffered heavy losses. According to Hamakom, everyone is interested in just who should be responsible for what happened, but he would ask three questions: “What we have learned from what happened in Ilovaisk? Made the right conclusions from these events? Why is it so happened that the events in Ilovaisk there is such a situation?”.
The General noted that he probably “knows the most” about those events, since he was the head of operations and was directly involved in it. At the same time, the military commander refused to talk in detail about the alleged culprits and the reasons for the defeat of Ukrainian forces at Ilovaisk, referring to the fact that on this episode of the armed conflict in the Donbass is still under investigation, which is classified.
Homchak added that the new President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky at the first meeting with him prior to the appointment of the General chief of staff, was interested in the topic of the battle for Ilovaysk. They discussed the events, but the details of the conversation, the military told reporters not.
