The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko on his page in Facebook reported about the detention of the Roman lyagin, the former Minister of the breakaway Donetsk national Republic (DND), former head of the CEC DND and one of the organizers of the referendum on independence in 2014.
According to Lutsenko, the operation on detention was conducted by the Prosecutor’s office jointly with the SBU. While the details of the arrest were not given. In his post, Lutsenko says that Lyagin charged with treason, and adds that “everything comes the time of reckoning.”
Roman Lygin at the end of 2013 was one of the activists of euromaidan in Donetsk region, and later became an active member of the region for independence. In may, he became one of the organizers of the referendum on self-determination and the DNI, as head of the CEC DND, announced its results. He later held the post of Minister of labour and social policy of the Republic, but was dismissed in 2016.
A year later, Lygin on his page in Facebook wrote that was involved in the organization of the referendum according to their beliefs, “because they believed in Russia that will not leave us”. However, coming to the conclusion that the self-proclaimed republics “is not destined to go the way of Crimea”, stated that “Donbass is Ukraine”.
That Lagin is again in Ukraine, in early March of this year, Facebook also reported the people’s Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Natalia Veselova, who claimed that he was back at the SBU program “waiting for You at home,” which aims to involve fighting for DPR and LPR back to Ukraine. She later edited the entry, writing that “it would be nice if he passed through the SBU program “waiting for You at home” and became a valuable witness.”
