Rospotrebnadzor said that Russian citizens can demand from the airline in case of flight delays. Such note, the Department has posted on its official website.
The Russians may demand compensation from the airline, except for the cases when the delay occurred for reasons beyond the carrier’s reasons or because of elimination of technical malfunction of a vessel which threatened the safety of passengers. The penalty is estimated at 25 percent of the minimum wage for each hour of delay, but is not more than 50 percent of the cost of the ticket.
About the delay, the carrier shall notify the passenger in advance in any way. If the aircraft has not taken off on time, the airline must give passengers the opportunity to make two phone calls or send two messages by e-mail, and also provide a room mother and the child for passengers with children up to seven years.
If the delay is more than two hours, passengers should be provided with refreshments. If people expect more than four hours, they are obliged to give hot meals. After eight hours day and six hours at night since the scheduled departure time passengers are provided with the hotel. Transfer to it, and Luggage storage should be free.
In may, the departure of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft of the airline “Yamal” was delayed in Koltsovo airport due to technical problems.
